NUMBER 2

2009

Hello Shipmates and Associate Members,

The holiday season is upon us and I cannot believe how quickly this year has passed.  It has been a tumultuous year for many.  I hope that all of you have fared well and enjoyed a very Happy Thanksgiving with you families and friends.  Please, as you celebrate the holidays, take a moment to remember our young men and women in in our Armed Forces, here and abroad, who cannot be with their families and friends during this holiday season.

The 2010 Reunion program and tours are now in place.  As you have noticed, you are receiving your copy of the HANNAH NEWS a little later this month.  The delay is because the Board wanted to make sure the May Reunion information was included in this newsletter.

We have some great tours lined up, such as the MEMORIAL TOUR that includes the WWII, Vietnam and Navy Memorials.  A brief wreath laying ceremony will take place at each memorial. This is a great tour and at $20 a person, a great value.  There are additional tours to various attractions and a trip to Arlington Cemetery.

our Reunion is on Memorial Day Weekend and there are a number of activities and attractions available in Washington that weekend.  The Board and I look forward to seeing all of you this May in Washington, DC for the USS HANCOCK CV/CVA-19 ASSOCIATION'S 16TH REUNION.

For those of you who may want to get there a little early, the Doubletree Hotel has agreed to provide up to 25 rooms at the Reunion rates for three days before and and day after the reunion.  Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Call early to take advantage of these discounted rates.

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.  Please be safe and I will speak to all of you next year.

                                                                                                                            Fair Winds,

                                                                                                                                 Don Mettler
