USS HANCOCK CV/CVA - 19
ASSOCIATION HIRAM GREER, EDITOR* 1892 QUEENS WAY, CHAMBLEE, GA 30341

This is my final President's Letter, as I will be relieved as President of the USS HANCOCK Association at the May Reunion by Don Mettler. It has been my privilege to serve as President for the past 19 months, and I thank all of you for giving me this opportunity. We recently lost our Secretary, Robert Froberg, who passed away. Bob had been on the Board for many years, both as Secretary and Treasurer. He was one of the original members of the Association. He served on board in K-1 Division, 1945-46. Our Reunion is rapidly building up steam, and promises to be another great time. We will be at the Crown Plaza Hotel in San Diego from May 5 to May 10, 2008. Details for the Reunion are included in this issue of the HANNAH NEWS. Be sure to register soon, and make your reservation at the Hotel. I have been told that groups from OP, V-1, V-4, and OE are coming in force. Pete Leon and Bill Fieldhouse, and a group from E Division will be manning our two Hospitality Suites. I want to thank the people who have contributed countless hours toward the success of our USS HANCOCK Association. Tom Wimberly, Membership Chairman, Don and Bonnie Yeggy, or Treasurer, Don Mettler, Webmaster, John Hunter, Ship's Store, and Hiram Greer, Newsletter Editor. Without these dedicated individuals all giving freely of their time we would be dead in the water. Ed Orchowski, founder of the Association, and Keeper of the USS HANCOCK MEMORIAL Fund has been an invaluable asset with his advice and guidance throughout my tour. Ed provided Funds from the Memorial Fund to have a plaque designed and installed at the Mount Soledad Veterans' Memorial in La Jolla, CA. We will be holding a dedication there prior to going to the USS MIDWAY CV41 for our Memorial Service, and the tour. As of this writing, we have signed up 172 Life Members. Congratulations to all, and thank your for helping to preserve the Memory of the USS HANCOCK, and all of the many thousands of men who served on board. I wish all of you good health, and success in the future. Thank you again for allowing me to serve as President.
