MEMORIAL TOUR

See our nation's Ware Memorials during a driving tour of Washington, D.C.  Stop at the Lincoln Memorial and visit the Korean War and Vietnam War Memorials.  Enjoy a maritime movie at the U.S. Navy Memorial and Naval Heritage Center, built to honor the sailors of the U.S. Navy.  Afterward, stop at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, which is the largest building (3.1 million square feet) in Washington, DC and is the first and only federal building dedicated to both government and private use.  While there, enjoy lunch on your own at the Reagan Building food court - named on of the "best family food courts" in DC.  After lunch, free time will be allowed at the World War II Memorial, the first national memorial dedicated to all who served during World War II.

EVENING PARADE AT THE MARINE BARRACKS

After dinner on your own, board a bus for the Marine Barracks (8th  & I Streets).  You'll be directed to your reserved bleacher seating.  Marines from the Barracks will give a history of the Barracks and a preview of what is to take place during the parade, which begins at 8:45 pm.  As the "Oldest Post of the Corps," Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C., established in 1801, has performed military reviews and ceremonies since its founding.  The present-day Evening Parade was first conducted on July 5, 1957.  Observe the ceremonies that have been the tradition of Presidents and past Commandants of the Marine Corp that will include ceremonial Drum and Bugle Corps, Silent Drill Team, the US Marine Band, and the Marine Corp mascot "bulldog."  Note: This trip may be limited to a maximum of 200 people.

MUSEUM SHUTTLE

Get out and discover Washington, D.C.  You can decide to spend the amount of time you wish at one or more museums throughout the city with the convenience of door-to-door service on a shuttle bus.  The bus' first stop will be at the Smithsonian Castle, which is centrally located on the mall.  The Castle is adjacent to the Freer Gallery of Art, the Arthur Sackler Gallery, the National Museum of African Art, plus the Hirshhom Museum and Sculpture Garden.  The second stop will be at the Newseum.  The Newseum focuses on journalism and the profession's impact throughout history.  It holds hundreds of artifacts from major news stories including sections of the Berlin Wall and twisted wreckage from the North Tower of the World Trade Center from the 9/11 attacks.  The third stop is the International Spy Museum, the first and only public museum in the United States solely dedicated to espionage and to provide a global perspective on this all-but-invisible profession.  Featuring the largest collection of international spy-related artifacts ever placed on public display, the stories of individual spies, told through film, interactives, and state-of-the-art exhibits, provide a dynamic context to foster an understanding of espionage and its impact on current and historic events.  The fourth stop will be at the National Museum of American History, which is home to over 3 million artifacts and national treasures.  From the original Star Spangled Banner, Edison's Light Bulb, Dorothy's ruby slippers from "The Wizard of Oz" to Julia Child's Kitchen, there are many must-see exhibits on display.  The fifth stop is at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.  A living memorial to the Holocaust, the museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, promote human dignity, and prevent genocide.  Most of the museums have restaurants or cafe's available for lunch

Smithsonian at :15, Newseum at :25, Spy Museum at :30, :40 at American History:45 at Holocaust Museum.

Admission for the Newseum or the International Spy Museum is $19.95 each, admission to all other museums is free of charge (subject to change).


ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY

Begin today's tour at Arlington National Cemetery, aboard Park Service Trains.  See Arlington House, home of General and Mrs. Robert E. Lee.  The 1,000 acres of the cemetery were once part of the Lee Estate.  visit the Tomb of the Unknowns where you will see the changing of the guard, and visit the gravesites of President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert, lit by the eternal flame.

NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM

The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world.  It is also a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight, as well as planetary science and terrestrial geology and geophysics.  The National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. has hundreds of original, historic artifacts on display, including the Wright 1903 Flyer: the Spirit of St. Louis; the Apollo 11 command module Columbia,; and a Lunar rock sample that visitors can touch.  The Museum offers 22 exhibition galleries, the Lockheed Martin max Theater (for an additional fee), flight simulators, a three-level Museum shop, and a food-court-style restaurant where you can enjoy lunch on your own.  There is a lot of walking, so please wear comfortable shoes.  You may also choose to visit additional museums located on the mall.  If you do, please be sure to arrive back at the Air and Space museum before 2:00pm to re-board the bus for the hotel.

For attendees canceling reunion activities prior to the cut-off date, Armed Forces Reunions, Inc. (AFR) shall process a full refund less the non-refundable AFR registration fee ($7 per person).  Attendees canceling reunion activities after the cut-off date will be refunded to the fullest extent that AFR's vendor commitments and guarantees will allow, less the non-refundable AFR registration fee.  Cancellations will only be taken Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time, excluding holidays.  Please call (757)625-6401 to cancel reunion activities and obtain a cancellation code.  Refunds processed 4-6 weeks after reunion.  Canceling your hotel reservation does not cancel your reunion activities.
