USS HANCOCK ASSOCIATION PHONE CARD PROJECT
The Phone Cards for Wounded Vets of Iraq and Afghanistan project has been a resounding success. As of July 31, we have collected over $10,000.00, purchased, and mailed 1500 two hour phone cards and are ready to purchase another 370+ cards. Additionally, we received a donation of 140 phone cards from Operation Troop Appreciation in Pittsburgh, PA. These cards are valued at $3000.00. The grand total to date is over $10,110.75, with 224,400 minutes of free phone time for our troops. Or put another way, over 155 days of phone time.
To the 108 individuals, business’ and Organizations that have donated, the Association extends our deepest appreciation and thanks. Without your generosity, this project could not have been so successful. For those who are still considering a donation, Max Pate and Wayne Erven are continuing to raise funds, and mail out the cards. They would appreciate any donations, in any amount, to keep this going. The wounded are still coming back from the combat areas, and are in the long rehabilitation programs, all over the US. Donations can be sent to:
